I'm no Buddhist but what he did was sociopathic and hurtful.

On the other hand I must confess what attracted me to Buddhism was the hot Zen masters. I mean, I'd rip Shimano apart with my bare hands if he'd take on a semi-young not-so-troubled. Old-style Japanese manhood is a great argument against the meaninglessness of human existence.

But yeah, still should have kept it to those who could meaningfully consent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4904219782540965444.post-13677276906891679912013-11-19T16:42:58.785-05:002013-11-19T16:42:58.785-05:00Make no mistake.... To rise above all others with such a view is to adopt the same view with different formal wear and to identify with whatever cultural source supports it. A willingness to judge others as inadequate and losers is the lack of compassion for the human condition that buddhism attempts to address. I'd urge you to find a mirror and look for your navel. If we can identify our own blind spots, maybe we wont make things worse.olcharliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00309255390011851502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4904219782540965444.post-24919696363775579782013-11-18T19:13:00.026-05:002013-11-18T19:13:00.026-05:00The two headed devil is just acting out for the dr...The two headed devil is just acting out for the drones on the AZTA board.

She's been in the midst of of the lurid details for some 40 years now; more than half her lifetime.

She left Zen Studies Society, then she returned to Zen Studies Society. I thought he did a wonderful job structuring the Shimano story, holding off the actual sexual allegations until the end. By then he has exposed many of Shimano's deep personal flaws.

Oppenheimer asked Roko / Shinge directly about her physical involvement with Shimano. Maybe that's what stuck in her mind.

My feeling is that this affair has as much to do with sex as rape. Shimano's actions seemed to be rooted in power, abuse of authority, domination, entitlement and narcissism. And of course, Psychopathology, the topic Oppenheimer let's Shinge bring up. Moreover, although it is certainly not politically correct to say it, those people that appear to have suffered from their adventures with these various characters passing themselves off as "spiritual guides" may in fact have experienced something necessary for their particular plight in this life and possibly, their next life. In other words, there are no victims in this game.
Everyone gets exactly what they deserve. We are constantly being tested here, to see what our reaction will be. If we pass, we move forward. If not, we move backward. Eventually, some wise up enough to move beyond this kindergarten/reform school realm and never return.
And as for Zen practice, if it helps in getting through the dukkha, why complain? The real questions about any such endeavor: does it help you love more fully, let go of the poisons more freely, and live with more integrity?
Bobhttp://theconsciousprocess.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4904219782540965444.post-6645917872426551052013-11-18T11:17:28.481-05:002013-11-18T11:17:28.481-05:00Nonsense.
