out on a limb

.
I don't know about you, but sometimes I think that my only function in life is to crawl out on a limb that others can then saw off behind me.

I mention this only as a tongue-in-cheek invitation to those who feel constrained to crawl out their own limb and prattle about self and other.

  1. A well rooted tree, with many branches and stems.
The wind blows through them and whistles a tune for those near enough to hear,
A stranger passes by who needs rest and some shade and sits down next to you,
The birds are flitting around and find a nice perch to rest,
No matter how hard then storm hits, the tree is flexible, and resilient, able to reform and continue to live its' life,
A once a year, it drops precious fruit that it nurtured to the ground, so that others are nurtured too!

In gratitude to your life genkaku.

Looks like the saying is true...."Dogs DO return to eat their vomit" :)
What a terrible thing to be calling ol' charlie,
small, dense, used by the wealthy, and a "girls best friend." shame.... :)

    Troublemakers

I may have posted today's video on a previous Friday (I can't remember) but it seems an especially appropriate conclusion to this week's posts. And who doesn't love Pema Chodron?

She says a teacher can become, "the greatest troublemaker in your life." And she calls this is one of life's great blessings, for if we "really want liberation" then we need people who can make trouble for us.

And, as you probably already know, "trouble" just turns out to be another unseen aspect of self, another place where we're "hookable."

There is a small video there also.

  15. I've been called worse and counted it a complement. Ol'buddha man suggested that knowing yourself could free you from the actions of being that self. Observing ones actions can be a helpful clue in such an endeavor.

After God created Adam, and Adam had been in the Garden for a really long time, he started to get a little lonely. So, Adam went to God and said, "This Garden is amazing, but I'm starting to get a little lonely; is there anyone that you can send to keep me company?"

God answered, "I have the perfect person. She will help you with almost everything. She'll clean, cook, wash you clothes, be your friend, and even rub your feet after a long day. She really is perfect in every way!"

Adam said, "That sounds great! How soon can you send her?"

God replied again, "I can send her right away, but there is one thing ... it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get her."

Adam thought for a moment, and then said, "What can I get for a rib?"
