The Boston Marathon was run yesterday. Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya won in a record-setting time about which he commented:
You don't look at world records. You just go. If you are strong, you push it. But if you put it in your head, you can't make it.Now there's a bit of advice someone with a spiritual practice might heed: If you put it in your head, you can't make it.

It is interesting to note, but in a tiresome way, how platitudes appeal to those aiming at difficult things, but really don't want to do the work.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that is part of motivation.
But I don't like this particular carrot and kick. Hope is given to those who have become strong and a kick in the heart to those who think they can push through without a great deal of preparation.
So much for us one-stick-a-day meditators, eh?
