The rivers that flooded in the wake of Hurricane Irene continue to bulge and burst even as newer rain keeps falling and falling and falling. Today, my wife got word from her friend Vera, who lives in Vermont, that her house, which had been nestled along a lovely, bucolic brook, was gone. Vera, her husband and two kids were homeless.
Vera did not provide details or even a lot of specifics, but ... news is always more compelling than mere "news."
