As if capital punishment were not gut-wrenching enough, the idea that the suspect evidence against a man should lead to his death is heinous. It is not entirely clear to me why Troy Davis has not won the right to further appeal his case, but it does seem clear that he does not deserve to die on Sept. 21 as scheduled.
Appeals are widespread that his sentence should be commuted to life in prison, but it is also not clear to me why, if his sentence is commuted based on faulty evidence, he should serve even that term.
