Some things just stick, it seems, but why they stick is hard to say.
Once upon a time, as a teenager, I pulled a book off a library shelf. It was called "Language and Schizophrenia." A number of case studies dotted the pages and among them was a patient who was quoted as saying:
The air is still here, the air between the things in the room. But the things themselves are no longer here.Like a snippet of melody, the words stick.
