John Cavangh dies

This morning, in an unsigned email using John Cavanagh's email address, I got word that John Cavanagh, a man I did not know, had died last weekend. Looking through my "old mail" queue, I see that I had been in contact with him six days ago. Now he is dead.

John was the author of "A Modern Monk's Tale," a piece I found enormously touching. With John's OK, a friend acceded to my request and got the story told by a former Trappist monk (Cavanagh) on the Internet.

I never knew the man and yet feel both blessed and touched in his life. I am sad.
