The Republican National Convention is now a thing of the past and Mitt Romney has been officially designated as the presidential candidate. Tonight, President Barack Obama will likewise be anointed by the Democratic National Convention.
The relentless and remorseless drumbeat of politics is impossible to escape on radio or TV newscasts. Drum, drum, drum, drum ... each segment more numbing and dumbing than the last. It's like listening to a religious convert who simply won't shut the fuck up... lots of style, lots of passion, no substance and making me wish it would just all be over: Even laugh-track sitcoms have something, however vapid, to chew on. I feel like a cow trapped in some Chicago stockyard ... shoot me or slit my throat now and get it over with!
