This morning, after reading a column about child molestation, some of it focused on the Roman Catholic church, I find myself crabby about the anti-Catholic-bias counter-argument that is sometimes made.
You hate me because I am Catholic.
You hate me because I am Jewish.
You hate me because I am black.
You hate me because I am a woman.
You hate me because I am a man.
You hate me because I am homosexual.
You hate me because I am heterosexual.
You hate me because I am powerful.
You hate me because I am weak.
You hate me because ... fill in the blank with something beloved by the person who feels unjustly maligned.
And perhaps it is true.
But, my crabbiness asks this morning, does it ever occur to these defenders of their own true realm that others may not like them because they are acting like undifferentiated assholes?
