peculiar, peculiar-er, peculiar-est

.
On the Christian front, the Roman Catholic pope, Benedict XVI, has approved a new college within the Vatican to teach Latin, and the next Archbishop of Canterbury suggested that those who made money betting on his accession to the post should give their winnings to the Church of England he will lead.

Leadership is an peculiar thing.

Do pine cones and cumulus clouds or 1949 Chevrolets or porpoises have leaders and if not, why not?

Or, alternatively, if so, why?

Torturing an English word, I think, "peculiar, peculiar-er, peculiar-est."
