Marriage is one of those institutions that is full of surprises, but I imagine some 30,000 people who took their collective vows Sunday in South Korea and elsewhere across the globe added a certain spice to the pot.
Some of the couples, married by the widow of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, had their mates chosen for them by Hak Ja-han as a symbol of their faith in the Unification Church Moon founded. Some couples were immediately confronted by the fact that neither spouse spoke the other's language.
It was the first mass wedding since Moon died at 92 in September. The church has been accused of brainwashing its 'Moonie' followers and of embezzlement.
