There's mom and then there's the Mother Church.
Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn is said to be one of the favorites as Cardinals at the Vatican debate who will become the next pope.
But his 92-year-old mother says he is much too good-natured to deal with "the nastiness at the Vatican. He has enough to do dealing with the intrigues in Vienna."
Not unexpectedly, the cardinal told family members, "I'll surely never become pope."
But if the Mother Church calls? Could his mom ever forgive him?
There is indeed a lot of nastiness, everywhere.
