a sympathy of larks

Ambling into the mind this morning...

A herd of cows...
A gaggle of geese...
A pride of lions...

And, out of some imaginative left field,

A sympathy of larks.

I don't know what it means, but somehow I like it.

    Ok risking a peek above the parapet...an unkindness of ravens, and a fysening of ferrets..the latter is directly from middle english..
