Hundreds of indigenous Brazilians have reoccupied a ranch that belongs ('by law') to a local politician. Police continue to do what they can to dislodge such 'illegals' who flout the laws that do not protect them. "Indigenous activists say farmers in Mato Grosso do Sul frequently use
violence and threats to force them off their ancestral territory, and
that the local authorities do little to protect them." A BBC story does not cite the odds being given on the success of the less well-off.
