Shopenhauer on a toot?

Putzing around in Google Images today, I came across this:

I'm probably missing something, but my initial reaction was ... what a dumb damned statement. A. How do you know? and B. It implies that the intellect is visible to the man who has one.

Maybe Shopenhauer had a context in which any of this might have meaning. But I prefer to think he was out on a toot and was trying to one-up his equally-tipsy philosopher pals.

Or maybe he didn't actually say it.

Or maybe I should just drink more.
