The responses to stress is as endless fascinating as it is deeply disturbing. The other day I saw an ad for a show about really inappropriate responses to stress -- one was trichotillomania pulling out one's hair, another was Pica syndrome a girl has been chewing up things like emery sticks.
There's overeating, undereating, assorted sexual disfunctions, alcohol, drugs, verbal and physical abuse of loved ones.
Then there's doing "good" things obsessively like exercise, journal writing, computing and meditation.
