lost and found
Somewhere or other recently, I read a suggestion by the Dalai Lama that just because someone does not agree with your point of view or spiritual leaning does not mean they are somehow lost.
A nice observation, I think -- one that persuades me towards ...
Just because someone does agree with your point of view or spiritual leaning does not mean they are found, either.
And taken together, these two nudges suggest to me that agreement and disagreement or lost and found have little or no relevance in the matter of planting your feet on the ground and finding a bit of peace in this life.
The usefulness of agreement and disagreement or lost and found can be likened to a nattering grandmother who chatters on and on about the difficulties and delights of knitting while you are busy trying to fix the carburetor: Even if she were to change the subject and even if she turned out to have a long a storied history as a car mechanic, still, whose carburetor is this and who has to fix it?
Wriggle and squirm as much as you like ... who has to fix it?
