The chief scout of the Boy Scouts of America has apologised for the remarks made by President Donald Trump at the group's national event this week.Over 30,000 people attending the event, where Mr Trump promoted his agenda and criticised his political rivals.Michael Surbaugh says the president's invitation was customary."I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree."
Neither presidential or fatherly.
ReplyDeleteThe article lead me to believe that the Scout Leadership expected Trump to make inappropriate remarks. Which is all the more reason I was initially a bit surprised by the apology.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what when into the so-called Chief Scout's apology. I personally know a few people who went out of their way to complain to the national office, so at the very least the BSA had to address parents' and former scouts' concerns over Trump's typically inappropriate, hateful and untrustworthy remarks.
FYI - It was during Rex Tillerson's time as national president of Boy Scouts of America that the BSA accepted gay individuals as ScoutS and Scout Leaders.
