When I first discovered zen, there were many new concepts and terms that would have to be explained to anyone outside of the community. To build a house one must know the concepts and terms that other builders are conversant with. But then to sell something, one must understand the process, the customer, and find terms that will draw them in. There must be a shift from insider exchange to outsider manipulation. And of course, if successful, it will be copied and spread like butter on toast. But the outsiders understanding of what just happened will be different from the insiders perspective. The outsider was guided through a process of discovery and acquisition, while the insider duped a chump.
