Amnesty International has suggested that former U.S. President George W. Bush be arrested when he visits Canada later this month. The human rights organization alleges Bush was privy to and approved torture in the past.
Whether or not it actually comes to pass, still it's nice to think that someone thinks leaders should be held accountable for their decisions and possible depredations.

Hi Adam,
ReplyDeleteAs much as I know, such a thing never happened before to a U.S. president, neither the call to arrest nor the arrest itself.
However, it makes the presidents of the U.S. and Syria have something in common.
"Dick" Cheney another war criminal was just here in Vancouver and there were attempts to make citizen arrest but he had handlers and entourage so large it was impenetrable. Pinochet was arrested in England by a citizen order many years ago it was a one of kind action to be savoured but the current so-called free world hasn't the balls to take down either of these scum-bags.
ReplyDeleteI rather see an end to barbaric practices such as torture...
