"House of Cards" is an American TV serial that was popular in its cynical baring of American politics. For all I know, it is still popular: I've only seen a few episodes and found its through-a-glass-darkly too dark for my taste
But now, in a very good essay that compares "House of Cards" to the actual-factual political climate of this country, Lili Loofbourow suggests and documents the ways in which the TV serial is no longer relevant.
If you were depressed by "House of Cards," you will be even more depressed at the fact that its cynicisms are mere child's play. Other comments on the article suggest my enthusiasm is not shared.
You can't make this stuff up. Truth is stranger than fiction. There's probably more platitudes to explain insanity than those two. But that's all i've got.
