brownie fix

Hot damn!

Good brownies!

With the help of a counter-top oven I bought as a temporary measure while I try to save money for a new stove, I cooked brownies yesterday. I had been deprived ... deprived, I tell you! ... by the lack of brownies. Brownies are one version of plasma (or is it heroin?) in a chocolate-lover's life.

Were they good because I had been so long deprived or were they good because they were good? I have no clue, but I will say they were good.

My technique, since I haven't got the energy to make brownies from scratch, is to add powdered, unsweetened cocoa to the box mix. That, plus a generous portion of Nestle semi-sweet morsels. Strange, but true -- you gotta add chocolate to what the box-making industry describes as "chocolate" if you want to get anything resembling chocolate.

G-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-d!

  1. Oh, yes. Chocolate chips, and for good measure, Hershey chocolate syrup on top. (Pour about 4 vertical lines, and then with a knife, score the top with about 4 diagonal lines. Makes for a nice effect.)
