Watching the TV news last night, there were the interviews that targeted the national budget proposal President Barack Obama has sent to the Congress for consideration. It's unthinkably enormous.
But once again -- as it seems too frequently in the past -- I waited in vain for a substantive Republican rebuttal to the Democrat initiative.
The Republican talking heads, as before, were willing to attack Obama's vision, but at no point did I hear even one of them saying, "I don't like Obama's approach. Here is a better one."
How can you believe someone whose point of view takes no risks, not to mention ignores the nation it has sworn to represent and nourish? The approach is so obviously self-serving and callow and shameless ... however popular. OK, you're kool at tearing down; now ... what can you substantively build?
