out of thin air .... lace

The BBC photo by Alessandra Distefano does not say where or when the picture was taken, but still, the minutiae of life seem to stand tall in a world full of grand adventures held up for praise. This is lace ... a painstaking and very particular business that, perhaps, only the old and slow and wise can attempt:

  1. My hillbilly grandmother on my mother's side, from the ozarks, did quilting and tatting. I donated her quilts to a quilting museum in Visalia, the fine hand stitching being prized. I've managed to keep one example of her lace work that i keep framed on display. Before TV, people did things.
