tree-climbing goats

Essaouira, Morocco
Tree-climbing goats feed on an argania spinosa, known as an argan tree, in Essaouira. By eating the fruit and spitting out the seeds, the goats help to propagate more argan trees for oil.

  1. Funny picture.

    BTW

Once the goats excrete the nuts, people gather them from the goat's droppings and crack them open to expose the seeds inside.

Argan nuts contain anywhere from one to three oil-rich kernels. These kernels are then roasted, ground, mashed or cold-pressed to produce argan oil, one of the most highly sought after culinary and cosmetic liquids in the world.

    Who knew!
