being right, being just

It is easy to be right: You just blame someone else.
It is harder to be just -- then you have only yourself to blame.
Is this true? I don't know, but it popped into my head as I thought about my younger son's desire to become a police officer.

  1. If I went into Law Enforcement, I would have strove to become an FBI agent.
But more Fox Mulder than James Comey.

Robert Mueller might be a good recent role model, time will tell.

  2. Police work, like going to war, is likely to change you. It's not a certain thing, but a strong potential. I wore a state badge for 5 years. I decided I didn't like who I was becoming. If you like who you are, don't do it. The risk of becoming someone you don't like is very high.
