I was in a museum recently, and found myself wishing that the labels on the paintings included the amount of time that was required for the work to be completed.
So much detail, thousands of faint motions of the brush, subtle blendings of color, expanses of canvas and frames.
And no one ever really knows what the end result will be; it just emerges through the work of the process.
