-- The Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder, is scheduled to give a speech today outlining why it's OK for the U.S. to kill Americans on foreign soil. Why do I find this grisly and grotesque when, bit by bit, the protections and freedoms of Americans are being whittled away?

-- In China, the mother of four young children burned herself to death to underscore her and others' dissatisfaction with China's treatment of Tibetans.

-- Violinists may now have access to new and improved violin strings, these made out of braided spider web. The spiders will sing at last.

-- And... they're ... OFF!!! The 40th, 1000-mile Iditarod dogsled race in Alaska. Determination on four feet and on two.
