£200 million heist

Anyone who takes a look at a police blotter knows that the average criminal is pretty stupid ... not least because s/he got caught. Movies and TV may depict splendid criminal minds, but the batting average at street level is pretty much "stupid."

Except ... except ... well sometimes, even in reality, criminal genius has its day... and I'm not talking about the halls of Congress or some Wall Street or banking finagle.

In London, it appears that thieves had a four-day window of opportunity over the Easter weekend just passed. They put it to good use, broke into Hatton Garden Safe Deposit, Ltd. in the middle of the jewelry/gold district, and made off with scads and scads of loot. No one is saying how much but ... well ... £200 million was mentioned in the BBC story.

This was not a robbery for stupidos, that's for sure.

  1. I wonder how many men put in how many hours and how many more to cash in the stuff and what that would work out to as a wage.
