Upon hearing that a woman had said, "I accept the universe," the tart-tongued Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw was said to have snorted, "She damned well better!"
How many things in anyone's life are like that -- things that inspire awe or doubt or difficulty and then give rise to an effort to accept and digest?
And yet the very statements that anyone has, in fact, accepted or digested do nothing so much as prove that acceptance is not at all the case.
It's not a big deal. Everyone's got their bullshit. But that doesn't mean the bullshit isn't worth noticing.
