A buddy of mine once opined that the sole usefulness of the internet lay in the fact that people could swap jokes.

Laughter opens people up. They consent fully. So perhaps the old Hollywood nostrum is useful when it comes to spiritual endeavor: Keep 'em laughing. Too often seriousness is interpreted as solemnity and no one greets solemnity with a truly open heart.

Makes me think of an old graffito, one of my favorites: "Man without God is like a fish without a bicycle."

  1. I heard it like this: A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.
