empty-ish nest

.
My daughter and her boyfriend just set out for a new chapter of their lives in Pennsylvania. Driving two cars, the trip is expected to take five hours. Rich has a job as an electrical engineer and Olivia will see what work she can dig up when they arrive.

On the one hand, I am pleased as punch for my daughter -- her accomplishments, her decency and even her assurance. On the other hand, I will miss like fury the part of the tapestry she wove around this house.

The two boys have yet to make a similar lift-off, but a 33% loss is a 33% loss. Wasn't it just yesterday that I laughingly called her Iggy ... a reference to the smells that arose from her diaper?
