Obama, Romney profiles

.
For Americans, it's worth wading through the blah-blah lead-in to see the Public Broadcast System's "Frontline" combined profiles of American presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

The show amounts to small biographies of the men who would be king -- how they grew up, what shaped them, etc. Different from other 'news' shows, I came away thinking I had learned something worth knowing. Not everything, just something.

The show resembled what used to be called "news" or "research" -- an effort to actually think and depict and offer rather than to reach a self-serving conclusion. Of course it does require something more than a Facebook mindset to watch it, but I think it was worth the price of admission.
