peas and honey

A ditty my mother taught me when I was little:
I eats me peas with honey.
I've done it all me life.
It makes them taste so funny, but
It keeps them on me knife.

  1. and yet no one ever explains where the idiotic idea of eating peas off a knife instead of a spoon comes from.

I can see not using the early version of forks: https://gordonlepard.wordpress.com/2016/01/18/historical-reconstructions-cutlery-and-peas/
    But why not a spoon?

Mashing peas with a fork is just nasty.

Actually I hate peas and rather eat snow-peas.

    1. Tiny frozen peas sprinkled over a main course (hamburger? salmon pattie?)and covered briefly at the end of cooking are out of this world. A family secret.

    2. I learned to mash my peas with potatoes into a pulp with a fork. My mum also adds chouriço to it. Stil love it.
