yielding to temptation

.
Today, Honoré de Balzac skittered through my mind with the oft-attributed quote:

Behind every great fortune, there is a great crime.
Literally and metaphorically, is there any escape from that observation?

And while I was looking that up, this quote too came into view:

I am tormented by temptations.
Of what kind? [That] there is a cure for temptation.
What?
Yielding to it.
To yield to the temptation to believe there is a cure for temptation ... isn't that a temptation worth keeping an eye on?
