There is something to be said for the True Self
But let it be spoken gently and with respect
For all that clings and weeps and leaps and
Nourishes itself on jackal's scraps.
There is something to be said for the True Self
But let not the man who speaks the words
Be garlanded and adored as if
His compassion were somehow necessary.
There is something to be said for the True Self
That cannot go and cannot stay
Yet dances in the jackal's lair,
Sowing abandon in the world ...
And infusing its each sashay.
