whether it's true or not

A reminder (and perhaps conundrum) I like comes from some dialogue in the 2003 movie "Secondhand Lions:"
If you're going to believe something, believe it because it's something good to believe in. Whether it's true or not makes no difference.

  1. Which is fine in the context of a movie.
Its a pretty pallid and greeny-yallery way to live your life though.

  2. "Greeny-yallery" ... never heard that, but like it a lot.

Among other things, noticing how "greeny-yallery" it is also contains a nice nudge towards a less "greeny-yallery" approach ... or can do... or perhaps I am too optimistic.
