the Olympics

The Winter Olympics opened in Sochi, Russia, yesterday. The enormous event is made smaller by the throngs of reporters, each striving in his or her own way to make the event seem enormous-er. How I love the abilities of great athletes doing astounding things. And how I hate the television coverage in my country -- a coverage that bends over backwards for the best American performers rather than what I love -- the best performance.
