LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles judge has ruled that California law requires coffee companies to carry a cancer warning label.
Superior Court Judge Elihu Berle said in a proposed decision
Wednesday that Starbucks and other coffee companies failed to show the
threat from a chemical compound produced in the coffee roasting process

"Meanwhile, coffee itself is not listed as a carcinogen by the IARC or the National Toxicology Program. And drinking coffee may actually help decrease the risk of certain cancers. For instance, drinking coffee is linked to a decreased risk of liver cancer, endometrial cancer, colon cancer and one type of skin cancer, Live Science previously reported.
